CST300 Week 1: CSUMB Introductions, history, and Industry Analysis
Here we are, first journal entry in what will no doubt be a long but rewarding journey. Keeping a journal will certainly be a great learning experience, but I am all for trying new things.
Last week has been fun getting to work alongside my team as well as getting to know them more. Everyone has been great to work with and very friendly. We put together a fun project advertising our skills as if we were a company. After we established regular meeting schedule and set up an appointment with an instructor.
This week began with learning the history of CSUMB as well as covering APA standards for citing sources. To my surprise CSUMB was established in 1995, only a short time after my own birth. After covering those topics came the real meat of this weeks course material, designing an outline for an industry analysis research paper.
For my industry analysis paper I have choses to explore software engineering and the potential career paths that it can lead into. It has become my goal to establish myself as a proficient developer as I hope to one day design systems myself. The company that I've chosen to research is NVIDIA, a company that began with the dream of revolutionizing computer rendered 3d graphics. This company personally interests me as I have worked on my own indie game projects in the past and have always enjoyed working on video games. Much of that time spent developing has been working in 3d environments. It is a dream of mine to one day open a indie game development studio. Maybe one day I can look back on this blog and reminisce after realizing those dreams.
