Week 3 - Study Strategies and Ethics

Part 1.     Of the topics I explored last week I believe the study practices of 'recite' and knowing 'where to study' are the two study strategies that I should focus on improving. Reciting is not only important as it forces you to take more time with the material, but it also directs you into engaging with it as well. Having to recall the information you study helps to solidify it into memory. Knowing where to work is a key component in having an effective study session. Separating yourself from distraction and finding what works for you to help with concentration guarantees the full time spent studying will be effective. Part 2.      This week had a focus on the ethics of computer science, much of it regarding the future of AI. With the advancement of AI will come the pushing of boundaries and the exploration of practices never seen before. Artists, actors, and other creative careers have recently been threatened by the capabilities of new generative technolog...

CST300 Week 2: Drafts and Peer Reviews

Part 1. Review and Reflect Learning Strategy      The top 3 effective study skills that I am strong in are Surveying, Making and revising a schedule, and Recite. Anytime I am presented with a new set of coursework I carefully overview the material and create a study plan allocating the time that will be required to cover and review it.      The 3 I am weakest in are Outlining textbooks, Where to study, and reciting. For one, I don't typically mark on textbooks, I also typically study at my computer which can often lead to distraction if I'm not careful, and lastly I can sometimes find myself reading through a section without fully grasping what I just covered.   Part 2: Preview Time Management Skills Part 3: Project Management Basics     The three video presentations, Introduction to Project Management, A WNS Masterclass, and Project Management in Under 5, were all incredible resources in learns key aspects about project management. The ...

CST300 Week 1: CSUMB Introductions, history, and Industry Analysis

Here we are, first journal entry in what will no doubt be a long but rewarding journey. Keeping a journal will certainly be a great learning experience, but I am all for trying new things.      Last week has been fun getting to work alongside my team as well as getting to know them more. Everyone has been great to work with and very friendly. We put together a fun project advertising our skills as if we were a company. After we established regular meeting schedule and set up an appointment with an instructor.      This week began with learning the history of CSUMB as well as covering APA standards for citing sources. To my surprise CSUMB was established in 1995, only a short time after my own birth. After covering those topics came the real meat of this weeks course material, designing an outline for an industry analysis research paper.     For my industry analysis paper I have choses to explore software engineering and th...
